Long-distance move from Beaumont, CA to Hixson, TN

Missing over 20 boxes or totes

This company moved us from California to Tennesse in May 2022. Original estimate was $6000. When movers arrived the foreman told us we had to pay $7000 more and if we cancelled the move we would have lost our deposit. The total move costed us over $14,000. When items arrived in Tennesse we had to put in storage as our home wasn't ready. They numbered every item and going through the boxes as we were moving there were missing over 20 items. After unpacking realizing what was missing all our electronic devices and video consoles and games and other items. My two pugs ashes are missing !!! I called and talked to Katie Cook and she finally sent me a claim from which was submitted but after 3 months it was denied and I had to resubmit the whole claim that was in April 2023. They have now ghosted me. No one will call me back or answer my emails. Some extensions have my number blocked. I just want a settlement I realize things deprecate but they don't ever respond. Heavy duty totes that said fragile on them had feet prints on them. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Long-distance move from Vista, CA to Sumter, SC

Moving Household Good from California to South Carolina.

I choose Exodus Moving & Storage company on February 3, 2022 to ship my household goods from Vista, California to Sumter, South Carolina. I spoke with Mr. Jim Kirran, Assistant Operation Manager and repeatedly explained to him that I have very large furniture. I sent photos of my 6pcs Bedroom set, 3 pcs Couch sectional, and 6 pcs Large entertainment Center, and 50 inch floor model TV. He assured me that everything will fit in a 50 cubic sqft of a tracker Trailer for $4,300.00. On February 01, 2022 I deposit $1515.00 to reserve my moving date. The total amount was $4,300.00 with $2,500.00 on the date of pick up February 2. 2022. I was then told by the moving driver that I would need an additional 50 cubic sqft for my household good to fit. I was then told to speak with Joe Carlo, Senior Sale Consultant from this point forward. He explain that the first quote was just a ball park figure, and even though I sent photos the price will increase. The addition cost was $3,900

bring the gain total to roughly $8,100.00.

I feel mislead and that they practice in BAD faith. For a moving company to be in business for over 15 years, they should have known how much my household goods would cost by cubic sqft and totaled cost. I feel if they were straight forward with me about the price, I would have looked around for more affordable prices with other moving companies. I feel betrayed and bamboozled by their DISHONESTY. I'm a military veteran suffering from PTSD, DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY. Do to the Bad Faith of the ordeal with Exodus Moving and Storage company. I have missed days from work, and required further treatment at the VA hospital for my medical condition. The household goods are from my fiancee who passed away 4 years ago on Super Bowl Sunday. The furniture is reminiscent of her passing away, I don't have alot of items to remember her by. It's very sentimental to me. But to be taken advantage of in my mental state is unfair and inconsiderate. I had to pawn her engagement ring and some of my father's WWII memorabilia, and borrowed money just to make the final payment of $3,900.00 yesterday. I hope you take this review into consideration and not treat people just as a Number, we have lives too. During the COVID epidemic.

Complete scam artist!

Don’t trust them. They told me it would be 6,000 to go from Cali to ny. I had to pay a upfront deposit of 2600. After loading my stuff it is now 20,000. They wouldn’t cancel the move, refund my money, or even deliver first and get paid at drop off. I don’t have it but could have got a loan if they would have showed up in ny with my stuff but they won’t. they say they are going to auction off all my stuff but If they aren’t able to deliver and get paid then they probably already lost and damaged my stuff. They are also rapidvanlines and moving relocation systems and pac coast movers. Guess what. They seem to always lose and damage peoples stuff

Don't use these movers!! You've been warned!

Ignore all of these 5-star reviews. They're most likely contrived. Just go to BBB first, and you'll see that they are rated "F". The reviews are as recent as August. My review will be added to them, too. This company starts as if they are ethical, but in the middle of the transit, called my son and threatened to store his stuff unless he paid his balance before they arrived. He had already paid his deposit, and the contract clearly stated that the balance was due upon arrival. On top of that, they stated that they'd be delivering on August 9th, and his stuff didn't arrive until August 16th... AT 1:00 IN THE MORNING!

Fraudulent Business Practices - AVOID

DO NOT HIRE. LOOK AT THEIR BBB RATING FIRST (also view Yelp reviews on these guys)! They will lure you with professionalism and a low quote up-front over the phone to win your business (take advantage of you). Offer to match and beat any other quote. Then on move day, they will send unprofessional movers and hit you with a huge change order only after loading your items onto the truck, claiming "you didn't read the contract". All lies and deceit. Furthermore, their moving foreman tore up the signed contract on pick-up day and littered the street with it after they finished loading up (see photo). SUPER SHADY. Just an insane amount of unprofessionalism. They need to do estimate job walks like any other professional mover, as they do not know how to appropriately estimate and quote jobs. Finally, expect serious delays on the back end. Please avoid and save yourself the stress.

Liar!!

This company told me that they were not a broker and that they move all items themselves. They also told me that they specialize in antiques. I have text messages that prove all of this. The rep “Trish” that I spoke with kind of pushed me into waiving my full replacement option for damaged items. Boy do I regret that. Literally almost every item they wrapped got damaged. A hole through one of my china cabinets, broken mirror on another. Antique couch and chair broken. Broken piano sheet music bench. Broken rocking chair and so much more. Only to find out my replacement is .60 a pound. To fix these items is going to cost way more than that. Back to them not being a broker they brokered my move to other companies and then tried saying they deliver to all other states but not Texas. What?!?! Why wasn’t I informed of this before I had you pick up my stuff? Stay away from them. Complete scam artist.

Save Youreself headache run from these guys

They sub contract everything - and will lie about it, the pack out guys will ask for cash. The pictures show how your stuff will be treated - damaged so much I lost track. They also lost a bunch of items (I used their "secure" storage) cant get anyone to help of even take a call. Also they don't use moving trucks - the picture is a freight hauler, no lift gate no ramp so guys we doing best but dropping things. My guess is they threw everything up there to "pack it"

BUYER BEWARE

Let me start off by saying that my wife and I spent many hours researching moving companies from our move across the country. We had estimates from 6 or 7 different companies and had in-home walkthroughs from 2-3 different companies. We ended up going with California Exodus because our support representative, Brian Stanley, seemed super friendly and personable on the phone. Brian felt real when we spoke, and he advised me of some of the 'dangers' of using brokers and how other companies would give us unfair estimates over the phone, but that Cali Exodus wasn't about that. Even though Cali Exodus's quote was a little bit higher than the competition, my wife and I felt comfortable enough putting down a deposit with them all things considered.

We were very wrong.

After getting our money, Brian completely ghosted us. Someone who was so easy to get in contact with prior to the deposit became impossible to reach. I would call every other day or so, leave messages, and send emails, and NONE of those correspondences were ever replied to. It got so bad, that I assumed that Brian had left the company. Since he was my only point of contact, I called into Cali Exodus pretending to be a new customer... only to find out that he was still with the company, and was just not returning my calls. By sheer luck, I somehow managed to come across Joe Stoia's number, (one of Brian's managers) who luckily, was very responsive when I called or emailed him directly.

Our stuff was picked up when the movers said they would arrive, that was good. The movers were professional enough, and had our stuff out of our 2 BR apartment in about 4 hours. It was then, that my wife and I were charged an extra $4,000 for 'extra' space that we had taken up on the truck. Seemingly, Brian's estimate, even after a tour of our apartment, was WAY OFF. Not only that, but we were charged an additional $200 for "materials" that the workers used to wrap some of our stuff (chairs, table, ect.). This was not made clear to us before the movers did it.

We were asked when our "earliest deliver date was" for our stuff to arrive. We told them October 1st. Apparently, this date means almost nothing, because our stuff did not arrive until October 27th. Again, many calls to Brian went unanswered while my wife and I were freaking out about how our stuff had not been delivered when we thought it would.

Finally, our stuff was delivered! Much to our disappointment, many of our major items that the delivery guys packed had been broken or damaged. These items include: Our dining room table (missing 1 leg, many dings and scrapes on the top face of the table. basically 100% garbage now), our entertainment center (two of the three supporting legs were either loose, or broken off completely), my desk (dings in the front right where I sit), our dresser (wood split at the bottom base of the dresser), and our skimboard never even arrived. Additionally, we were charged an extra $175 because the drivers needed to use an elevator to get to our apartment.

FYI: The claims process requires you to get your damaged valuables an estimate of how much it would cost to fix. They also require original receipts. You get $0.60/pound of items deemed broken.

All in all, this was a horrible experience that has turned me away from hiring a moving company ever again. I would urge everyone on the verge of using Cali Exodus movers to LOOK ANYWHERE ELSE. The positive reviews you see must be paid actors or employees of Cali Exodus because there is no way that they are deserving of ratings as high as they have. You would be better off renting a U-Haul and driving your own stuff yourself. Never in a million years would we have expected our move from SoCal to Florida to cost over $13,500. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Very Negative Experience

I originally thought I had found a winning mover. I was sorely disappointed. The day they arrived with the van, I had to run a quick errand while a friend stayed at the apartment. By the time I came back they had left, saying I had specified too many items to load and they could only take our bed and a certain number of boxes. My signed agreement said otherwise. I was furious. The company refused to make it right and then refused to return our deposit! They said it was non-refundable, even though it was over $1,000. Please don't hire this moving company!!

CALIFORNIA EXODUS MOVING AND STORAGE......BEWARE

They doubled my estimate to move at midnight the day of pick-up, They left NO itinerary. At least 1/2 of my shipment is lost. What furniture that did arrive is damaged and/or destroyed.

This is my settlement:

"THEREFORE, UPON A CLOSE REVIEW OF YOUR BILL OF LADING (CONTRACT), ORDER OF SERVICE AS WELL AS PROOF OF LOSS AND DAMAGE FORM, AND TO MAINTAIN OUR HIGH LEVEL OF CUSTOMER SATISFACTION, THE SETTLEMENT OF THIS CLAIM HAS BEEN FOUND TO BE APPROVED IN THE AMOUNT OF $69.00 KINDLY ACCEPT OUR APOLOGIES FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE AND WE WISH YOU THE BEST IN YOUR NEW HOME!"

CALIFORNIA EXODUS MOVING AND STORAGE.

If you don’t think my story is true check out Better Business Bureau for more.

My story starts in California. I am moving to CT with the above mentioned movers. They are scheduled for June 26th to pick up my household goods. Picture an 82 yo woman packing herself with help of local people. She has walking pneumonia and a broken leg. True stuff.

I am all packed in boxes and taped. There is only furniture to deal with. The movers call at 15 minutes to midnight to tell me they are in bay area and will arrive at my house in two hours. YEP 2 am. I reminded them I had a “slide over” to the next day. Next day they arrived at noon. They “pack” up furniture all afternoon. AT MIDNIGHT they tell me because they picked up two other shipments there is no room for all of mine……. I am given the option of a smaller truck coming the following day to bring the rest. My costs have now doubled and there is not room.

“Smaller” truck came the next day and it was a pick-up truck. The driver assured me my items would be stored it their warehouse and totally safe. Packed up and left. Neither of the shipments provided an itinerary.

No it is not the end of the story. Waiting in CT for my things to be delivered. I am told they left CA 7-01 and it would be 5- 7 days to arrive. And when the truck was closer they would give me an exact date. 7-05 I was told ETA Sunday, 10 days from leaving. 7-07 I was told “Great news” your shipment arrives early THIS evening….it is now 5:18 pm. Jim hung up on me mid-sentence three times while working out delivery.

Long story short. My shipment arrived without any itinerary to check. I have ½ of my furniture damaged or missing. 57, yes FIFTY-SEVEN, items missing. I still find that things I want to use have not arrived. And I realize they were packed in a box and taped shut with other items I am not noticing yet to be missing.

One of the resent items is my rolling pen. I am a baker for my family. My rolling pen is about 5-6 DECADES old. It is not worth a lot except, it is priceless. It rolled out the dough for a banana cream pie that caused my son to say “I’m home” when he came for leave from the USMC. I miss it.

Another item is sadly missing. A drinking straw container from our family 50s Drive In. It was filled with the buttons my mother collected through the 30s, 40s, and 50s. Priceless.

CALIFORNIA EXODUS Moving and Storage are not holding themselves accountable. Their repeated response is “we have 120 days to decide.” One of the shippers whose items were with mine on the truck, reports that 75% of her furniture was damaged.

Still not the end until CA EX movers stands up and makes this right. Hoping for an ending that is more positive.

Great Mover!

I have much respect for the job California Exodus Moving did for me. They arrived on time, got my stuff delivered undamaged and in good shape, all within the three-hour timeframe I had booked with them. My move was reasonably uncomplicated, but I was impressed with the care they used in packing my stuff on the truck and delivering it to my new home.

Fast movers

I called California Exodus Moving on Monday, and a friendly associate made a booking for 14h00 on Wednesday to pack all my furniture into the container. On Tuesday, I received a text from Jeffery stating that he and his team would take care of everything on Wednesday. They arrived on time and started to load all the boxes. Some of the furniture was dismantled, and required additional wrapping for my move to AL. Everything fitted so nicely that there was room to spare as I had only 12' available. It was a pleasure to deal with California Exodus Moving, and I will recommend them for your next move.

Terrible

Absolutely terrible. First off, calling the main line was a joke. I was on hold for 20 min and kept receiving calls. Turns out those calls were from people at their office as I was on hold On the main line. Then, dealing with Joe DiCarlo was bad. Felt like I was a burden everytime I had to update the moving inventory. The worst of this experience of all of this was dealing with Jim Kirran. Very rude and condescending. He told me multiple times it was would take 2-14 business days for my stuff to get my new place. My belongings were not even loaded to move until the 15th business day. He is super quick to rush you off the phone because he has no answers. He has no communication with the movers. He hung up on my wife twice when she had questions. He repeats vague information consistently and when ever we had questions it was a problem for him. On top of that, they sent 1 person to deliver our stuff from CA to CO and mover didn’t even finish. He gave up because the poor guy was so tired. By far the worst company. I’m in genuine in shock of how poor they handle themselves. Please do not hire them.

Fantastic Movers

The men worked very hard, and overall, I had a five-star experience at a much lower cost than other companies were offering. Very polite staff and responsive customer service. Never had to wait for a reply. I even split my move up into two-days, and the company was very accommodating. I will use this company the next time I move, no questions asked. My two-bedroom apartment took five hours, so if you are not entirely packed and have difficult furniture that is all solid wood, then expect things to take a bit longer.

Moving my 92yr old mom from California to Florida.

Steve Correa was my first encounter with your company. He was so patient and explained cost estimates. I had a few more estimates to go through. Because of Steve I chose Cali Exodus. Today David and Joe came to pack up my mom's house. They arrived on time, keeping me informed of their arrival time. On arrival they introduced themselves. Went room by room to verify what needed packing. And then got to work. They were professional, polite and friendly. It was actually a pleasure having them pack up my mom's house.

Bait and Switch company

Stay away from this moving company Cal Exodus, don't want to see anyone else being taken advantage of. They are cheats and miss leading in their prices. They quoted 5300.00 to start and I sent pictures and had regular phone calls and emails with them but when they showed up to our place, they tripled the cost to $13,200.00 and our hands were tied because we had to move out and relocate out of state.

They damaged our goods and there were items missing, I am getting the run around for a claim being filed. I did file and reported them to the BBB and have been keeping all emails from the company, I finally received email from the Cali Exodus, and I was told to remove my negative review from the website or they won’t do anything with the claim, so I am being threatened by them which does not go over very well. I was told they won’t process my claim and had to wait 12 days before getting an answer on what they are going to do to resolve the problem.

They came in at 1 price and tripled it on us on the day of pickup and left me know choice and took 20 days to deliver across country from west coast to east coast.

They are very miss leading and promise the world if anyone has read the horror stories of cheating moving companies this is one of them. Buyer beware also wanted all the money before final delivery was made, they wanted 1/3 up front then 1/2 on pickup then the final before making delivery stay away from this company.

I will be filing against this company and reposting reviews and make sure the public is aware of what kind of business practices they are doing and will update the BBB as well and get an attorney and go after them.

I received email back from the BBB and they are now telling me they are NOT associated with the BBB another lie about the company.

Horrible Communication & Deceitful practices

This was my first time hiring a moving company and based off my experience with this company it will probably be my last. My items were picked up more than a month ago and I was given a timed estimate of 0-6 business days for my items to be delivered for a distance of 0-500 miles ( I moved 300 miles away) but I have still yet to receive them. While attempting to get information on where my items are and how much longer it will take for them to get delivered I receive only a response saying " a route hasn't been assigned to your items." I've sent communications to multiple people that where flat out ignored or were passed on to someone else who previously I had no communication with in regards to my issue. I also have been seeing reviews about this company not only up charging after the delivery but also damaging peoples products. I hope this won't be the case for my items, but if so i'll be back with an update. I'd highly recommend packing a U-haul yourself and transporting your items before using this company.

Long-distance move from California to Arkansas

They don't tell the truth

I would not use Cali Exodus Storage. The price was the only thing I was happy with. We moved from California to Arkansas (2000 miles).

I was assured by Greg that they don't use contractors and on the pickup and delivery, various men showed up to move the items and it was obvious that they were not employees. In fact, the gentlemen told me today (the delivery) that he works for a temp agency.

When they picked up the furniture, one of the gentlemen scraped the wall and then told me that it was like that when he got there. I told him, no it wasn’t. He mentioned that if he did do it, there would be white chips of paint on the floor. We both looked down at that point, and yep, white paint chips were on the carpet. He didn’t say anything after that. I do admit they did a great job wrapping the furniture. Occasionally, I would get generic messages about they are trying to get our items delivered. I would just get generic responses to my inquires via text.

When we finally received our furniture (it took 32 business days - 6 weeks) there were some damaged and missing items. My recliner that I had custom made was missing, the legs for my dresser and the bolts for my bed and tv (and speaking of my tv, it has a 3 inch crack in the screen now). My dining room table has a huge gouge in it about a foot long. My dresser had two knobs broken off.

The man in charge of the delivery had two temps with him. They unwrapped everything and did put it where I asked. When it came time for clean up, they had no bags to put the massive amounts of wrapping materials anywhere. To get it out of the house, they put it in our box truck with the promise to come back later to pick it up. 4 days later, it is still there.

I would file a claim but it's not worth my time. I just hope that no one else uses this company. I rarely leave reviews, but I thought this should be told.

They were reasonably priced and very responsive to any of my concerns. They moved our 2 bedroom home for us . We opted to use the free 30 days storage while we finalized the purchase of our new condo. They worked with us on a delivery date and time and unpacked all of our things . We did have to pay an additional fee for stairs but we knew that was a possibility since we may not be on the ground floor . Overall great experience and will recommend to others in the future .

Scam you to make more money

My husband and I hired Cali Exodus for a move from CA to TX. We even made a spreadsheet itemizing every single item of furniture we were moving, measured every single item and went over the list multiple times on the phone with the Cali Exodus agent. We paid the deposit and thought everything was fine and we were happy. The day of pickup, they had removed 3 of our largest furniture items without our knowledge from the estimate and told us it would be an extra $600. At this point we were stuck having to pay the amount because this was our actual moving day. Cali Exodus never owned up to their mistake or apologized and we had to pay the extra money. I know for a fact that the 3 furniture items had been on the estimate we signed because we went over everything in extreme detail. This is a shady business practice and I would recommend others stay far away.

When we replied that would send the 30% payment after confirming out stuff arrived (totally normal procedure) they literally started SCREAMING at us over the phone, threatening to lock our stuff up and force us to go to court over it. Trust me, it's not a good feeling when the people who have your life's possessions are threatening to auction off all your goods unless you pay 100% before they even think of showing up to your house. Seriously, DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. They will try and f*** you over.
